A quick story...

In February of 2021, we received a call from a Health Director at a CT boarding school who had a student walk into their center after testing positive for COVID-19. The student did not have local family or an Emergency Contact, so the school referred her family to SHA. We picked up the student within a few hours, and moved her to a 3-star hotel Quarantine for the next 14-days with 24/7 onsite supervision and medical care.  She returned to campus 2 weeks later!

"I have been extremely impressed with the immediate response and communication between myself SHA and their (onsite) chaperones. Whenever there was a need it was immediately met with a caring and compassionate response. (SHA) has been absolutely top-notch!  I couldn't ask for anything more, knowing my (COVID+) student was in very caring, compassionate and competent hands."

A common question:

Can I just wait until an emergency to buy a membership?

Yes... However, we cannot guarantee acceptance or access to any services if your student is not already a member.  Also, you may not be meeting your school's requirement to have a verified Emergency Contact on file.  We communicate directly with school Health Directors to make sure any student who lists "SHA" as their Emergency Contact is a registered member in our system.

                                                       **IMPORTANT MESSAGE**

Minimum 1/2 Year Membership is required for "non-member" same-day support requests

*Expedited Service Fee will also be assessed

Due to the current environment surrounding COVID-19, we must prioritize service to students who are already members in an emergency situation.   Also, schools will usually require that students who test positive for COVID-19 be off campus within 12-24 hours.  Do not wait until an emergency!!

WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND ENROLLING BEFORE YOUR STUDENT ARRIVES ON CAMPUS

Feedback from a Parent:

"SHA excels in meeting student health needs when the student is far from home. Our son recently needed a rapid result COVID test on an expedited basis - and on a Sunday night. SHA moved swiftly to find a clinic, provided transportation to that facility, and handled every step of the process quickly and efficiently. Within a matter of hours, the test was done, the (thankfully negative) results were in and our son was back to his homework!

INSTRUCTIONS

"My student just tested positive for COVID-19!" What's next?

Medical Quarantine & Isolation Procedures

Our first priority is your student's health and safety. In the event they test positive for COVID-19 while enrolled in one of SHA's Memberships, the student will receive the following care within 24 hours:

  1. Pick-up in 3-6 hours (after notification) &Transportation Off Campus - Once SHA is notified by the school that the student has tested positive and must be quarantined off campus, we will arrange for transportation to a 3-star hotel that has been pre-screened and tested for quarantine procedures, using a "private limo w/ partition" and zero contact.
  2. 24/7 On-Site Supervision - Once the student arrives at the hotel, he or she will be escorted to their private room using all protective measures possible, including PPE for any on-site supervisors or staff. The adult chaperone will stay in a separate room in the hotel and check in on the student regularly using appropriate precautions. *Hotel location is subject to change based on availability and CDC guidelines.
  3. Daily Nursing Care - Within 24 hours of arriving at the hotel, a visiting nurse (RN or APRN) will conduct an initial evaluation and provide any needed medical assistance, including checking vitals, addressing acute concerns, and administering medication (if possible).  Initially, all medical care will be provided via telehealth (costs may vary depending on student's individual health insurance plan & coverage).  A nurse will assess the student's health daily until the student is able to return to campus or travel home. At any time during this course of care, the nurse may recommend a higher level of care in a hospital setting, and SHA will arrange for transfer.
  4. Meals & Personal Items:  Every student will receive a login to "GrubHub", a mobile application giving them a daily budget and access to meals from a variety of restaurants in the local area.  Food and snacks can be ordered 24/7 as needed.  SHA can also facilitate contactless delivery of certain personal items or specialty foods not available through the meal plan service.
  5. COVID-19 Testing Assistance - We strongly recommend contacting your school to find the best location & testing procedure available to students before contacting SHA.  If testing assistance is needed, SHA can arrange for a COVID-19 test to ensure that the student is no longer at risk and can return to campus with clearance from the visiting nursing agency under the supervision of a medical doctor. If the student returns home, SHA can assist with safe travel arrangements.
  6. Real-time Communication with Families & Schools - If a student is in quarantine due to an illness or positive COVID-19 test, we will communicate with the student's family and the school on a daily basis using multiple communication platforms to provide updates on the student's condition and coordinate any travel or other arrangements as needed.

All medical care is provided by certified nurses or doctors via telehealth or direct treatment

Pre-Campus Arrival Services (for FALL '21)

Heading back to campus this year?

Make sure to check with your school to see if they already have a Group Plan "GAP" with SHA first! If your school does not have a GAP plan, you can enroll your student into one of our Memberships to have access to our "back to school" services.

SHA can arrange for your student to be picked up at the airport by a private black car or SUV when their flight arrives (limousine service also available).  Our chauffeurs will drive them safely to their school, or next location.  If your student will be entering into quarantine, or off-campus housing with SHA, they will be greeted by their chaperone at the hotel who will handle everything from there.

Parents will have access to a mobile application that allows you to communicate directly with your student's chaperone, and receive real-time updates (including student's health info during emergencies).  The app is only available when students are in "supervised care" off campus.

Enroll early & SAVE!!

If your students does not have a local emergency contact, or requires support while attending school, we highly recommend enrolling in a program now to guarantee acceptance and access to all services when needed!

Due to the environment surrounding COVID-19, we must prioritize service to students who have already enrolled before we can accept new students during an emergency.
